Code of Conduct

At Midwest Pet and Handler events, we are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive environment where all participants feel safe, respected, and valued. Our Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all attendees to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

1. Non-Discrimination and Inclusivity

  • We do not tolerate discrimination, prejudice, or bias of any kind. Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, socio-economic status, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.

  • Embrace diversity and celebrate the unique perspectives and backgrounds of all attendees. Engage in inclusive language and actions that promote a sense of belonging for everyone.

2. Respect for Physical Consent and Personal Boundaries

  • Respect personal space and boundaries at all times. Always ask for explicit consent before initiating any form of physical contact, and be prepared to accept a refusal gracefully.

  • Harassment, unwanted advances, or any behavior that makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe will not be tolerated.

3. Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech and Harmful Behavior

  • Hate speech, derogatory language, or any form of verbal or written communication that promotes discrimination, violence, or intolerance is strictly prohibited.

  • Refrain from engaging in behavior that could cause harm, distress, or offense to others, including but not limited to bullying, intimidation, or malicious gossip.

4. Responsible Consumption and Substance Use

  • Alcoholic beverages are only permitted in the event space if sold by or served from the provider licensed for on-site consumption.

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal substances. Any person found to be selling, using, or otherwise distributing any controlled substance will be immediately removed from the event and reported to local authorities.

5. Respect for Property and Venue

  • Treat the venue, equipment, and facilities with care and respect. Clean up after yourself, dispose of trash properly, and refrain from causing any damage to the property.

  • Follow any guidelines or instructions provided by the event organizers regarding the use of the venue and its amenities.

6. Conflict Resolution and Reporting Procedures

  • If you witness or experience any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, report it to the event organizers or designated staff members immediately. You may also email ODP@MWPAH.org to file a report.

    • Please view our Open Door Policy for more information on the reporting process.

7. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

  • All attendees are expected to comply with the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which the event takes place. This includes but is not limited to local laws regarding alcohol consumption, noise levels, dress code, and public behavior.

  • Any illegal activity or behavior that jeopardizes the safety or well-being of others will result in immediate removal from the event and may be reported to the authorities.

8. Acknowledgment of Consequences

  • Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in consequences, including but not limited to verbal warnings, expulsion from the event without refund, and being banned from future MWPAH events.

  • The severity of the consequences will depend on the nature and severity of the violation, as determined by the MWPAH board.

By participating in MWPAH events, you acknowledge that you have read and understand this Code of Conduct and agree to abide by its principles and guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
